Her career journey started in the world of auditing but she very quickly realized that she was passionate about building businesses, not reviewing them. The early years of her career included conventional accounting and reporting roles, but those made her restless; she wanted to impact the business, which is what led her to her first role in the technology start-up world.

Gemma is the Senior Learning Manager at Oyster, a Global Employment Ecosystem with the mission to empower companies everywhere to employ talent anywhere. Oyster is a certified B corp, providing customers with the software, knowledge, and infrastructure to confidently tap into the global talent pool. Like many of her Oyster colleagues across the world, Gemma is proving that the future of work is flexible, global and enables culture to thrive in a remote-first environment. Gemma creates, facilitates, shares jokes, crafts communications, hides from her kids, delivers workshops, drinks tea and coaches her Oyster colleagues...all from her laptop in Leeds, UK. Her role involves developing learning programs that support Oyster’s distributed workforce to succeed.
