We're looking back at 2022 and we think the best way to reflect is with cold hard stats. That's why we surveyed our customers to better understand the year they're leaving in the rearview and how Bonusly has impacted organizational cultures in 76 countries

This year, our HR-vocabulary grew tremendously. For the first time we heard "quiet quitting", "quiet firing", "bleisure", "upskilling", "loud retaining", "radical flexibility", and "productivity paranoia". It's tempting to disregard this fresh terminology as a passing fad, but the new vernacular is representative of a simple truth: employees are demanding more of their organizations than ever before. Despite the changing verbiage, one thing remains consistent: Bonusly's 3,100+ customers are using employee recognition and rewards to achieve key business objectives in improving employee morale, engagement, and connection.

We've unlocked three key insights you can carry into 2023. 🔑

Insight 1: engagement (still) reigns supreme

Insight 2: Bonusly customers are rich(er) in the most valuable resource: time

Between managing benefits, running performance reviews, juggling global workforces, and supporting remote employees: HR teams are strapped for time. Luckily, our customers are saving time on important initiatives by automating and improving formerly manual recognition programs.

Bonusly allows organizations to easily automate their recognition and reward systems by providing smooth onboarding with minimal monthly upkeep. 77% of respondents were able to implement their shiny new recognition programs in less than a month.

For Bonusly customers, gone are the days of midday gift card runs and end-of-day swag shipments. 73% of Bonusly admins spend 2 hours or less managing Bonusly each month.

Insight 3: Visibility begets connection

The beauty of a peer-to-peer recognition program is it takes the emphasis off of busy leadership team members to provide all of the recognition. Employees just want to feel appreciated for their valuable contributions, no matter where the recognition comes from.

In fact, in a survey of 2,000 employees 65% admitted that they would work harder if they felt like their contributions would be noticed by management. Inversely, 65% of those who were polled believe they’d be likely to stay at a job with an unappreciative manager if their coworkers and peers still recognized their work.

Consider this scenario: an individual contributor is recognized by a colleague at the same level for valuable, behind-the-scenes work they accomplished. This recognition draws attention from both the IC's manager and the leadership team since everyone in the organization can see the recognition. Not only is the individual contributor pleased that their work has been noticed, but their manager and the team as a whole are also now aware of the work being done. That's a win-win-win!

Around two-thirds of Bonusly customers reported both increased frequency of recognition and increased visibility of recognition.

Frequent and timely employee recognition helps organizations operationalize their company's core values. That's why 72% of customers said that Bonusly improved employees' connection with core values. When core values are connected to real, tangible, examples of employees living them, organizational culture is fortified.
